Netherlands were the first on the scoreboard with France struggling to sink any of their attempts. Inge Huitzing and Cher Korver pulled the strings to see Netherlands lead 25-3. Mariska Beijer led the scorers with 11 points in the quarter.
France came back with renewed energy, strengthening their defence to hold the Netherlands to 12 points in the second quarter.
The Netherlands however continued to control the game making good use of their bench using a mixture of youth and experience to increase their lead to 28 points at 37-9. Young forward Bo Kramer gained some valuable experience and contributed four points.
The Netherlands’ offense picked up a gear in the third period as they extended their lead to 57-14. Huitzing was once again to the fore as she raised her totals to 23 points and 12 assists for the game.
The rebounding of Fabienne Saint Omer-Delepine proved to be the lone bright spot for the French as she moved to double digits on the game.
Netherlands were in cruise control in the fourth quarter, ensuring that all of their available squad received significant minutes on court. They qualified for their 12th consecutive European Championship final with a 68-24 victory and Huitzing was awarded the game MVP award.
