The final game of Day 2 saw spectators treated to a thrilling battle between Poland and Great Britain; Poland emerging victorious by 85-73.
It was Poland who got off to the better start, working to a 5-2 lead before consecutive baskets from Abdi Jama saw Great Britain take the lead (6-5) for the first time in the game with just over two minutes played. Poland then recovered to move ahead by 8-6 and, from there, the teams traded shots with Great Britain consistently counteracting their opponents baskets with points of their own – Jama with the final points of the quarter to level the game on 21 points apiece.
The fantastic battle continued end to end into the second quarter; Great Britain once again finishing the quarter strong to take edge a 41-38 lead into half time.
A stunning third quarter by Poland, however, saw them outshoot their opponents by 21-10 to take a 59-51 advantage into the game’s final 10 minutes.
The fourth quarter saw the GB Men consistently play their way back to within just five points of Poland, but the Poland Men’s Team showed great composure at both ends of the court to see out an 85-73 win.
