The penultimate game of Day 2 saw Israel and Switzerland tip off in their first game of the Championships; Israel playing to a 65-47 win.
In what would prove to be a nailbiting encounter, it was Israel who were first on the scoreboard courtesy of Roei Rozenberg. With the play end to end, the teams traded shots throughout the quarter – Tomer Yatzkan earning the final points of the opening 10 minutes to level the game on 13 points apiece.
This pattern continued at the start of the second quarter: the two sides matching each other point for point until – with just over two minutes left in the half – Israel’s Lior Dror sunk the first of two baskets that, combined, would give Israel a 25-20 lead with two quarters remaining in the game.
The game remained close in the third quarter, but Israel continued to extend their lead: earning a nine point advantage (45-36) with just 10 minutes left on the clock.
Indeed, building upon this momentum, Israel then overcame another gritty performance by the Swiss Team in the final quarter to close out a 65-47 win.
